About

Nicole Brydson is a conceptual artist, journalist and entrepreneur who was born and raised in New York City. After graduating with a BA from Harvard in political science, with concentrations in film, art history and writing, Nicole went on to work as a community liaison in constituent services and communications for the New York State Senate and then the United States Congress, later leaving to work for Peter Kaplan at the New York Observer, where she contributed to The Politicker blog and wrote a column called Brooklyn, the Borough. After the 2008 recession, Nicole spun her column into a website and founded Misfit Media in 2009. For four years the website ran daily content about hyperlocal life in Brooklyn arts, politics, real estate and culture and continues to publish long form essays about the borough. At South by Southwest Interactive in 2014, Misfit Media launched interchang.es, a platform for creative people and projects, to support independent projects with open source technology and creative production. Some of interchang.es projects include brooklyntheborough.com, artsinbushwick.org, fabnyc.org, leshistorymonth.org, and Nicole’s viral sticker campaign becausecapitalism.org.
